A performance is an un-earthing. A birth. Technique is a given, but it’s not the point. The point is what’s underneath. What’s at the center. What desperately wants to be expressed, experienced and understood.

When I dance, I forget the world. It’s my refuge. My escape. The discipline, commitment and pain of training are an equally important part of dancing as the resulting elegance, beauty and weightlessness. Sweat and tears and labor until something emerges. Until something is set free.

To me, making jewelry is the same. I make jewelry so I can give this gift to people can hold this essence in their hands

I spent my childhood in the mountains of Veracruz, Mexico, where growing coffee was a way of life: Knowledge passed down from generation to generation. Connection to the land, hard labor. Mountain air. Coffee trees touching the morning fog in the distance. Stewardship, respect, presence. People spending their lives immersed in their art, their calling.
